Citizen Science Club – Tuesday Lunchtimes – C8
By Karam Abilmona and Roshika Senevirathne, Senior STEM Captains
Have you dreamed of becoming a scientist? Want to help grow our communities understanding of the world? Well wait no more… your STEM Captains are proud to introduce CITIZEN SCIENCE CLUB.
Come on down to C8 each Tuesday, starting on the 15th of May, and get together with other young bright minds and work together to contribute to Climate Watch’s understanding of climate change and other natural phenomena. We, as Lyndale students, will practically investigate the issue, collect data and send our results to the cause. Get on board and put Lyndale on the map.
Citizen Science is scientific research conducted in part, or whole, by members of the community who are passionate about advancing our understanding of the natural world. Citizen Science projects normally involve the large scale collection of data and observations that can be analysed by the group of citizen scientists or by professional scientists as part of their research. Famous Citizen Science Programs include SETI (the Search For Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence https://www.seti.org/) or the Frog Census here in Melbourne (https://www.melbournewater.com.au/community-and-education/help-protect-environment/frog-census).
